1.) What is Yachachi?

Yachachi.com is a free service designed for, but not exclusive to, UC Berkeley students as a fun, safe, and easy way to meet new people.

2.) Why was Yachachi started?

Three reasons. First, Chris and Winston desperately needed (and still need) help finding themselves dates, so Yachachi was created to assist with that. Second, Chris and Winston desperately needed (and still need) to become rich. We expect that when number two comes true, number one will follow soon after.

Lastly, Yachachi was started to help college students meet each other. We believe that the average person misses out on many great friendships and relationships simply because they don't know how to go about meeting that person. We're changing that.

3.) What makes Yachachi different that other internet dating sites?

Unlike other internet dating sites, Yachachi is not for the "I'm so desperate I'll go on the internet looking for love from a complete stranger" type people. Other dating sites rely on the idea that the user will go online to find/meet a random stranger, who might or might not end up being their soulmate/stalker. That's a big risk to take. Yachachi is unique because it is directed toward smaller communities (colleges at the moment) where the people you meet aren't complete strangers, they're acquaintances or friends of friends or classmates that you kind of already know, but would like to know better.

4.) I'm already in a relationship, so I don't need Yachachi right?

Wrong. Other internet dating sites are primarily geared toward 30-something year old people desperate to get married... that's not what we're about. Even if you're in a relationship, you can still benefit from Yachachi by meeting new friends, classmates, study partners, etc. We're more of a "meeting" site rather than a "dating" site. And besides, we're optimists that believe there's always something better out there... so keep one eye on your honey and the other eye wandering!

5.) How do you pronounce "Yachachi"?

Say it with me now: yü - chô - ché. "Ya" as in young, "cha" as in chalk, "chi" as in cheese... young chalk cheese. Ok that is just confusing... say it however you want.

6.) Then what does Yachachi mean?

It means nothing. Oh wait, no, actually it means "this is a super radical site and you don't want to be left out so sign up now or risk being uncool" in our own made-up non-existent language.

7.) Who uses Yachachi?

You, me, your sister, the guy to your left, your neighbor, the spandex girl at the gym, the cute guy you saw out last weekend but never got to talk to.... basically everyone.

8.) I don't go to school at UC Berkeley, can I still sign up for an account?

Yes! At the moment, we're just getting things started, so our first target audience is Berkeley. But, it's our hope that Yachachi will spread anywhere and everywhere so sign up regardless of whether you go to school at Berkeley or not, and tell your friends to sign up too!

9.) How does Yachachi help me meet people?

This is the great part. There are two ways to meet someone through Yachachi. First, when you log in to your Yachachi account, you can browse the People Finder and look at other users' profiles. If you see someone that you would like to meet, you can click the "send user private message" button and you will be able to send a private email to that user from your account.

The second way to meet someone is through your personal Secret Selections. Just log into your account, browse the People Finder, and instead of sending a private message to the user you'd like to meet, you can click the "add to secret selections" button. This will add the user to your own, private Secret Selections. Our system will then automatically email that user a message stating that "someone" has selected them. If that user then adds you to their Secret Selections, a match has been made and our automated system will email both of you with each other's email addresses. From that point on, it's completely up to you two whether or not you meet.

10.) So if I send a private message, will the user I send it to know it was from me?

Yes they will. You can't send a private message unless you are logged in to your account. The recipient of your message will receive an email with your message and your name.

11.) Will the recipient of my private message be able to see my email address?

No they will not. Nor will you be able to see their email address. The email will be sent with your message and your name, but it will be sent from our automated system. At no point will you ever have access to other users' email addresses, nor will they have access to yours. The only time a user's email address will be revealed is if they are matched with another user, in which case our automated system will send emails to those two users exchanging email addresses.

12.) What if I don't want people to send me private messages?

When you first create your account, you can specify if you want private messaging turned on or off. You can always change this and edit your profile if you change your mind.

13.) If I add a user to my Secret Selections, will they know?

Nope. Nobody knows your Secret Selections but yourself. The user you select will only receive an email stating that "someone" has selected them, but not stating who.

14.) What if I add a user to my Secret Selections, but then I change my mind, can I remove them?

Of course. When you are logged in, your Secret Selections will be listed at the bottom of your browser window. To remove a user, click their name, and a popup window will open with their profile. This gives you one last opportunity to review their worthiness. To remove them, simply click "remove from secret selections".

15.) But wait, you guys running this whole thing will know who I select right?

Nope. Everything is encrypted and automated by our system. Believe us when we tell you that your Secret Selections are completely private and known only by you. And give us some credit, we couldn't care less if so and so chose whoever. That's your business, and we don't care.

16.) So it really is completely private?

Yes, that is what we've been trying to tell you. Nobody will ever know your Secret Selections, unless a match is made. Then only your match will know that you selected them, and you'll know they selected you. If the users you select don't select you, then nobody will ever know you selected them in the first place. That's why it's risk free.

17.) This is great!

Yes it is... and that is not a question.

18.) I want to sign up for an account, how do I do that?

Click the New Account link at the top of this page. Then follow the directions. When you have completed the form, click "create account".

19.) Ok, I created my account, now what?

Click the Login link at the top of this page to log in and start using your account.

20.) I got an email stating "Someone from Yachachi has selected you!", what does that mean?

That means somebody has shown their interest in meeting you by adding you to their Secret Selections.

21.) How do I figure out who selected me?

It's still not clear?? You won't find out unless you also happen to select that user and a match is made. If you never match with that user, you'll never know.

22.) That sucks.

Deal with it.

23.) I was recently diagnosed clinically insane and I want to delete my account, how do I do that?

You are an idiot. Ok now that we got that out of the way, all you have to do is log in to your account and click the edit profile button near the bottom of your screen. In the edit profile page, you'll see a button to "delete account". Click that button and a confirmation email will be sent to you verifying that you really want to delete your account. For your protection, your account will not be deleted until you click the link in your confirmation email. If you suddenly become much cooler and decide you don't want to delete your account, simply disregard the email and your account will remain active.

24.) I have this great idea for you guys, can I tell you about it?

Sure, send an email to feedback@yachachi.com and we'll be in touch.

25.) Hey, you guys are extremely handsome, intelligent, and charming young men... is there any chance I could come work for Yachachi?

We're always looking for new talent. Our current staff consists of two geniuses, you could be lucky number three. Send an email to jobs@yachachi.com and show us what you've got.

26.) In your About page, why is Chris' weight listed as 165-188 lbs?

That is a sensitive subject. Ask him yourself at chris@yachachi.com.

27.) Why does Winston want to harvest cranberries?

Isn't it obvious? Waist deep in a flooded cranberry bog, frolicking in a sea of floating berries... if you can help Winston achieve this goal, let him know at winston@yachachi.com.

28.) Actually, I just looked it up online and they only flood the bogs with 18 inches of water.

Don't ruin it! Go away! Nobody wants you here!

29.) I still can't find the answer to my question, what do I do now?

Send an email to help@yachachi.com.
